GREEN MAMBA BACK AT TRAINING
MBABANE – An early bird catches the fattest worm.
This great adage sounds true for Correctional side Green Mamba, as they started their 2022/23 pre-season training yesterday under the watchful eye of gaffer Ernest Mavuso. Inyoka eluhlazan, as Green Mamba are known, finished in an unfamiliar position in the 2021/22 MTN Premier League season. They finished ninth spot after accumulating 37 points. They were seven points behind Tambankulu Callies, who punched above their weight as they finished the season in a respectful position five. The Correctional side Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya disclosed that the team did the medical test for the players last week.
Tested
“Last week we were having the players tested if they were fit to play in the upcoming season; we are still waiting for the doctors’ report to see how the payers fared in the test,” Sibiya said.
He also said they would beef up the squad to improve their MTN Premier League rankings from the previous season. “The coaches will be assessing some players, which we intend to sign, but for now I can’t dwell much on the issue of new players as we just started our pre-season today,” he said. The Ernest Mavuso-led side joins the likes of Mbabane Highlanders, Royal Leopard, Manzini Wanderers, Denver Sundowns and Moneni Pirates, who have all started their preparations for the new season.
