MBABANE – “We want to inject new blood in the team.”

This statement was made by Mbabane Swallows assistant coach and physical trainer Siyabonga Bhembe, when he was questioned about former Mbabane Highlanders midfielder Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule being linked with Umkhonto KaShaka. The former national team Sihlangu, left-footed midfielder has seen his five-year stay with Inkunzi emnyama come to an end two weeks back, after both parties failed to reach an agreement during contractual talks.

The former Denver Sundowns skipper revealed to this publication earlier this week that four elite league teams were after his signature, but was currently weighing the options. Speculation in the last three days has heavily linked him with crossing the Rubicon to Swallows. His former coach at the black and white capital city giants, Siyabonga Bhembe revealed Mlaba was not part of the players they were looking to sign for the upcoming season.

Good

“Mlaba is a good player that is a fact, I was his coach at Mbabane Highlanders and I know how good he is, but we want to inject new blood at Swallows this season,” Bhembe said. The former Mbombela United gaffer said in as much as Mlaba was a good player they had not contacted him, since they wanted to sign younger players.

“Expect new and young faces who will take over from the likes of Tony and Samba Jive so we can’t be recycling players,” he said. He then wished departed midfielder Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu all the best to his new club Green Mamba. Also wishing D4D well was Swallows supporter Muzi ‘Bondas’ Simelane who said he would have been sad if he left Swallows while still a younger player. ‘Bondas’ said it was one of the best decisions for the player, as he was now a grown man looking to the future as his football career was not far from the end. He said the midfielder gave his best years to Swallows and for that, he was happy for him joining Green Mamba at this stage. Meanwhile, Mlaba said he had not yet made the decision on which club he would be playing for in the upcoming season.
