MANZINI – They are investing big in sports.

That is new player in the mobile money service industry, Instacash as they continue to sponsor regional football associations. This follows the launch of an E80 000 sponsorship to the Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA), by the company’s Managing Director (MD) Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo in Manzini yesterday. The company recently launched a E130 000 sponsorship to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) in the presence of Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane, at Sigwaca House.

knockout

The sponsorship will cater for the 13 leagues, as each league will play for E10 000 knockout tournaments courtesy of Instacash. The MRFA has eight leagues and each league will get E10 000 for a one day soccer tournament, which summed up to the E80 000. The company’s MD said the top four teams in each league who will register many people under instacash will qualify to play in the knockout tournament and he said this was the criteria they felt would be suitable for both parties as it made business sense, in that the sponsorship would empower an individual from each team from all the eight leagues as he or she would be recruited as an Instacash agent. “As a company we had a lot of ideas on how to get involved in local football, we could have gone nationally, but we felt in order for us to get our targeted audience the regional football was an ideal platform. I must say that this sponsorship will create new business people in the regions,” Nxumalo said.

He also said the tournaments for each league will be played as a one day tournament, starting with the semifinal before lunch and final later on the day. “Our next stop is the Shiselweni Football Association next week Sunday and the following weekend we will head to the Lubombo Region,” he said.

sponsoring

Apart from sponsoring football the company also pumped E30 000 to Eswatini Netball Association (ENNA). Meanwhile, MRFA Vice Chairman Phumuza Ntshangase, was grateful to Instacash for the sponsor as they finished the past season without adequate sponsors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Instacash came at the right time, we are happy and grateful as an association for this partnership, as it will give courage to both teams and players to push more, knowing that at the end they would get something,” Ntjangase said. He then promised the sponsor that they would protect their brand through violence free games during the tournaments in all the eight leagues.
