MOZAMBIQUE, ZAMBIA IN COSAFA U-20 FINALS
LOBAMBA – Neighbours, Mozambique and Zambia, have made it to the TotalEnergies Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2023.
They made it by reaching the finals of the COSAFA Under-20 Championships as the two will clash tomorrow in the final scheduled for 3:30pm at Somhlolo National Stadium. Mozambique beat South Africa 2-1, while Zambia eliminated Angola 3-2 after penalties yesterday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
According to cosafa.com, the duo qualified for the continental finals in Egypt that will take place early next year, keeping on track for a place in the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia. The semifinal losers, South Africa and Angola will battle for the third sport that boasts a bronze medal tomorrow at noon at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Entrance for tomorrow’s final two matches at the Somhlolo Stadium will be free to fans, who can collect their tickets on a first come, first served basis at any Eswatini Mobile Service centres and Nedbank branches during normal business hours.
Eliminated
Eswatini was eliminated in the tournament in the group stages. Their two victories against Botswana and Mauritius were not enough for the Mduduzi ‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo-led side to reach the knockout stage. The country hosted 12 countries who all played in the tournament sponsored by Inyatsi Construction to the tune of E2 million and Nedbank who sponsored E100 000.
