M. PIRATES SA CAMP NO ISSUE – HIGHLANDERS

MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders have come out to clear the air following the rigmarole that has followed the 0-1 MTN Premier League defeat to Moneni Pirates last Saturday.

It is not their performance at fault as they reportedly played well but wasted a host of chances. However, events leading to the match during the week are in question in some sectors of the clubs. Addressing the speculation that some people were not pleased with their Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe’s tolerance to allow their rivals to have an international camp in Pretoria, South Africa (SA), including a friendly match against his Patrice Motsepe League side, Ally’s Tigers, Highlanders’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mandla Madonsela refuted it had any effect on the outcome of the game.

The match was played on Wednesday and Pirates lost 2-4 before returning to Highlanders by a solitary goal in their second league match this season. “Hats off to our MD, the Great Chief Ally! We have learned there are people complaining that a certain team had camped somewhere. As Mbabane Highlanders Football Club, we don’t care where our opponents are camping. The great always makes sure our beloved team is well taken care of.

Prepared

“We prepared well for the Pirates game; never ran out of gas to ferry players to and from training; camped well; and it’s all thanks to the chief. He did his duties perfectly well and we thank him a lot, and pray that the Almighty continues to bless you with more years and wisdom,” read part of the statement shared to this publication. Madonsela said they were going to come back strong after this defeat, otherwise they never planned to lose but to annex the maximum points. “We had a beautiful game, created a lot of scoring chances but we couldn’t bury them yet they got one or two chances and used one to win the match. The boys played their hearts out in the match and you could tell they wanted to win but it wasn’t the case,” he said.
He also expressed their utmost gratitude to the supporters who came to watch the match despite it being a late fixture as it started at 6pm at the Mavuso Sports Centre, ahead of Denver Sundowns and Mbabane Swallows who finished 2-all. He appealed to them to continue supporting the club, management and MD as success would come when they were united.  

On another note, efforts to get Kgomongwe proved futile yesterday but he had said on Sunday that he was ‘speechless to lose against Moneni’.  His wife is linked as the potential director for Pirates this season and already they have received E100 000 from the Kgomongwes while also having their SA camp allegedly funded by her.
