HEADS SET TO ROLL AT ‘BULL’
MBABANE – Will Mbabane Highlanders have the same management after this weekend?
That is the million dollar question among the team’s thousands of supporters. Exactly seven days since the Mavuso Sports Centre chaos, they will be having a mass meeting. It will not just be the supporters meeting but they will be in the presence of their South African Managing Director (MD), Chief Ally Kgomongwe.
“He wants to address the supporters but I can tell you that even now, he’s spitting fire and very unhappy about the way some things have been handled at management level. He may have to announce managerial changes on the day. The mayhem situation also didn’t go right with the MD and believes it could have been handled better,” said an impeccable source. The source said Kgomongwe had been away for some time as he had hardly been in the team’s games this season due to business and political commitments but was aware of what was happening in the team.
“He was not impressed to see the team release a press statement without consulting with him after the issue involving supporters at Mavuso, where we lost to Sea Birds 2-1 on the day. He became more worried when he read in the media that a Task Team was being set up to investigate the drama that saw referee Mbongeni Shongwe outsprint the angry wave of supporters charging after him,” said the impeccable source. Kgomongwe is said to have then summoned the team’s National Supporters Committee (NSC) for this Sunday in Ezulwini at CODEC. The meeting is scheduled to start at 11am and the NSC is expected to ensure transport was arranged from all branches.
NSC Chairman Mfanuzile Dlamini announced the meeting through a statement posted in the club’s Facebook page. “Mbabane Highlanders National Supporters Committee (NSC) is pleased to invite all our supporters to a mass meeting on December 4, 2022 (this Sunday at 11am. Venue is Ezulwini, CODEC,” read the post.
