WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT – MANZINI WANDERERS’ MOPINA
MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers striker Fabrice Mopina has urged the nation to buy shares from the team.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) import was speaking on behalf of the players during the official launch of the selling of shares which was held at Mountain View Hotel yesterday. The event was graced by top Lawyer Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli, who chaired the proceedings, former players Moses Khumalo, Scara Gama, former Management Committee (MC) treasurer Dianna Girlie Johnson. Also present was Wellington Khumalo, who is responsible for the marketing of the selling of the shares, Ugandan Councillor to Eswatini Thobias Kamgisha and the players.
Mopina said this was a good initiative for the club to sustain itself financially going forward and thanked those who came up with the idea. “The shares are now available, you guys can come over as we need you to support the team going forward,” Mopina briefly said.
The maroon and white hub giants recently announced that they were selling shares to their supporters to sustain it financially and they had projected to make at least E5 million from this project. This idea came after a meeting was held to dissolve the current registered team company directors, so that they could implement a crucial part of their constitution, which most supporters knew nothing about yet it had always been there since 1994.
The constitution, according to sources, provides that the team can have no more than 50 registered directors who will have bought a total of 10 000 shares, each share sells for E500. If sold out, the sale of the shares will total E5 million.
