MBABANE – Black and white capital giants Mbabane Highlanders players have been assured of getting their November salaries today.

This was revealed by Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe yesterday, who said the players should not press the panic button as he was busy processing their salaries for the month of November, as the delay of the payments was beyond his control. It was disclosed to this publication by source close to Inkunzi Emnyama that the team’s players had not been paid for almost two months now and nothing formal was communicated to them concerning the delay of the payment by the Management Committee (MC). The MD has come out to clear the air on the delay of payments of the players’ salaries. He said they were only owed for the month of November, not the two which was alleged by the source.

“Yes, it’s true that our players’ salaries were delayed, this was beyond our control as we are affected by load-shedding this side; it’s really tough as the system we use to transfer the salaries was affected by the load-shedding,” Kgomongwe said. He said now that everything had been sorted, as there was a company that was busy with the installation of solar panels in main offices in South Africa, including theirs and banks, they were processing the salaries and they would be paid today. “This issue was not just affecting my players but me as well. I even thought of arranging that they should come over to get the money this side, but since we are now sorted, they will be paid tomorrow (today),” he said.

welfare

He further said as a director of Mbabane Highlanders, the welfare of his players was his main priority and that was why he was working tirelessly to have them paid what was due to them by today. Meanwhile, newly-appointed Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini echoed Kgomongwe’ words, saying the situation was beyond their control as a team, but highlighted that the MD was working on it. “Yes I can confirm that the players are not yet paid, but the MD has just contacted me to say that they will be paid tomorrow (today),” the former Mbabane Highlanders National Supporters Committee (NSC) chairman said. Kgomongwe was in the country last week to address the supporters in a meeting which was held at CODEC, in Ezulwini, where he appointed Musa Masuku and Kenneth Dlamini as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Acting PRO, respectively. The duo was filling the void which was left by Clement Dlamini and Mandla Madonsela, in that order.
