EUROPE MOVE FOR ESWATINI YOUNGSTER
MBABANE – Eswatini impressive youngster Mhlengi Fakudze is getting close to realising his dream of playing professionally abroad.
Fakudze, 19, from Mhlambanyatsi Community FC had left early in January, this year, for FC Malaga Academy in Spain, where he was attached for six months. An assessment report of the attacking midfielder from Spain, which was seen by this publication, suggested that he impressed during his short stint. As a result, Yeboah Football Academy from Dubai is arranging the player a move to FC Energetik-BGU Minsk from Belarus. The team was founded in 1996 as Zvezda Minsk. BGU is a Russian abbreviation and stands for the Belarusian State University.
debut
Zvezda-VA-BGU made its debut in the Premier League in 2002 and played there until 2005. Since 2006, the team plays in the lower league. In 2006, Zvezda-BGU reached the semi-final of the Belarusian Cup. It was renamed to Energetik-BGU Minsk. Belarus is a landlocked country in eastern Europe. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast; Ukraine to the south; Poland to the west; and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest. Belarus is the 13th largest and the 20th most populous country in Europe. The country has a hemi boreal climate and is administratively divided into seven regions. Minsk is the capital and largest city.
Seth Kwabena Yeboah, the intermediary, who is currently in Qatar, told this publication that the player’s details had already been forwarded to the club from Belarus and a response was expected in the next few days. A third division team from Spain styled CD Lugronois is said to be among the possible suitors for the player. The player preferred not to comment on the possible Belarus move, as nothing formal had been communicated to him. He, however, shared about his experience in Spain which encouraged him to reach for the stars. “I had a good time there (Spain). It was a good learning experience and there is nothing to complain about,” he said.
Fresh reports suggest that the player has also attracted interest from one of the big teams in the country, but he has made it clear that he is not eager to player here in Eswatini, at least for now. Local players who have secured moves abroad of late included Mbabane Swallows’ Leon ‘Schuster’ Manyisa, who was in Armenia in 2019 but quickly returned home following disagreements with his then employers who were identified as FC Van.
