MBABANE – Black and white capital giants Mbabane Highlanders are in South Africa ahead of the epic MTN Premier League game against sworn rivals Mbabane Swallows.

The two capital city giants will lock horns in the ‘mother’ of all local football derbies in a week 10 fixture billed for the Mavuso Sports Centre tomorrow, starting at 3:30pm.

Scored

The two teams come to this match, with Inkunzi Emnyama’s heads high as they were the last to win the Mbabane derby by a solidarity goal, which was scored by departed striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa from a penalty, in last season’s first round. The latter will not be part of this season’s action as he is now with Correctional side, Green Mamba. A source close to the Bull’s kraal revealed that the Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya-led side was camping in Pretoria, South Africa as part of their preparations for the derby.

Preparing

“The team is away in South Africa preparing for Swallows and they left the country on Tuesday and I’m not sure when they will return for the game,” the source said. Meanwhile, Highlanders, through its official Facebook page, hinted that former gaffer Saloetse ‘Sly’ Mosala might be in the country to assist coach Makhanya for the derby only, as he was the last mentor to grind results against Swallows.

Another source also disclosed that the team’s Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe confirmed that the club indeed was in South Africa. It is worth mentioning that the two capital giants come to this match separated by two points as Swallows are on position three with 16 points, while Highlanders are on position five with a game in hand.

Comments

Comments from both the club’s Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini and Kgomongwe proved futile by the time this report was compiled, as their phones rang unanswered. Meanwhile, there will be only 5 000 tickets for the  festivities, which also feature a clash between Manzini Wanderers and Nsingizini Hotspurs. Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Pat Vilakati confirmed the figures and advised those fans not to dare come close to the stadium without tickets as they would not be sold at the venue. “Fans are encouraged to buy tickets as early as now as they’re already available in MTN MoMo Market Place. As usual, the gates will be opened three hours before kick-off  at  10am,” Vilakati said.

Assisted

Fans without smart phones will be also assisted in several MTN service centres nationwide to purchase tickets for the must watch game. The football manager added that there would be tight security on the day and advised fans against carrying weapons into the stadium. MTN Brand, Communication and Sponsorship Manager Lando Dlamini, during the activation of the games earlier yesterday, highlighted that fans would enjoy a lot, as there were several promotions in store that included predicting scores.
