MBABANE – He keeps shining.

The adage proves true for Eswatini Sprinter, Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, who got a sponsorship deal from PVM, which stands for Proteins, Vitamins & Minerals, a company based in Pretoria, South Africa, which deals with nutritional sciences. ‘Swazi Bolt’ has other sponsorship which includes one from Adidas and another from Fitness zone, where he trains, until 2024.

He also has sponsorship for International Olympic Solidarity Scholarship through Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA). Commenting on the sponsorship, ’Swazi Bolt ‘said: “This is an exciting time for me and with PVM support, I can now be even more focused on my 2023 goal ambitions. Like me, PVM wants to make a positive impact across Africa and inspire people to reach their full potential. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together,” he said.

Matsenjwa mentioned that the sponsorship was a stepping stone for his career. “The PVM sponsorship was a stepping stone for me in my career, although I’m about to retire and at my peak. To receive such a big recognition from a big company whereby I will get free analysis and recommendations  by the company’s dietician is exciting.
“The sponsorship comes with free supplements and I will get discounts if I feel like the supplements are not enough. I will get discounts of supplements  and energy drinks,” ’Swazi Bolt’ said.

The number one Eswatini sprinter also mentioned that supplements were important in helping on recovery. “Athletes must be aware of what they take because we get tested, so athletes must know what they take because we get tested. I have been using PVM before Tokyo Olympic Games and their supplements are clean and have been tested so many times,” he said.

‘Swazi Bolt’ is also sponsored by sportswear company adidas in a lucrative deal that started last year January 2022 to 31 December 2024. He mentioned that having a sponsor was very important to every athlete. “The sport is very expensive, when you talk of what to wear and the kit. You need to recover because you are ahead of the following day’s work out, you need to have up to standard physiotherapy, and all those things need money. For me I had to cut a lot of things like for now I don’t buy spikes, running clothes and now I won’t buy supplements and for one to get that you need to work very hard,” he said.
