MBABANE – EFA’s Players Status Committee (PSC) has cleared Sihlangu defender Kwakhe Thwala to join a team of his choice.

The player was embroiled in contractual dispute with Young Buffaloes and dumped the side over week ago following alleged unfulfilled promises. The matter was before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) PSC and the latter ruled in the player’s favour. The left-back was accusing the security forces side of allegedly failing to honour the promises made to him prior to signing for the army side. The player was reportedly promised to be recruited into the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), but it never happened. The PSC was found that there was a breach of contract.

Gathered

It was reliably gathered that the player was supposed to get a salary of at least E5 000 per month but was reportedly paid far less. He is the second player to be cleared by the PSC in less than three weeks. Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini was cleared to join Mbabane Swallows from Manzini Wanderers. Interestingly, Kwakhe also intends joining Swallows. Last week, while in the capital city giants’ colours, he watched them beat Moneni Pirates by 2-0 at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground in Mbabane. kwakhe, when contacted yesterday, said Young Buffaloes would always be his home.

''I will always love Young Buffaloes because they took care of me when i was young and the team will always have a special place in my heart,” he said. Meanwhile, Mbabane Highlanders appeared before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee last night facing charges of causing a commotion in the recent goalless draw with Young Buffaloes at the Mavuso Sports Centre. They escaped points deduction for being repeat offenders, but were slapped with a E40 000 fine.
