NHLANGANO – Mbabane Swallows scored two unanswered first half goals to add to rookies’ Nsingizini Hotspurs eight-game winless streak.

This was during an entertaining MTN Premier League game played at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano yesterday. The result ensured Swallows were back level on points with Mbabane Highlanders in third position while Nsingizini’s search for their first win of the year continued after they were condemned to their fifth defeat of the campaign.

It was sweet revenge for the visitors who had suffered a 1-2 setback in December last year. The match started on a high tempo and it was Swallows who broke the deadlock five minutes into the game, through Kwakyi Kingsley, who headed home brilliantly from a Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko Well delivered corner kick.

The home team’s first attempt at goal came in the quarter hour-mark when the silky Mayibongwe ‘Saurez’ Mabuza unleashed a thunderous shot which narrowly missed the target. The play continued with the teams creating chance after chance, but Swallows added the second goal in the 21st minute. This time Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst clinically finished a pass from Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini.  This was after a good exchange of passes between debutant Kwakhe Tfwala and Tiger, who in turn passed the ball to Felix, who made no mistake to tap in the ball home.

Blew

When referee Thulani Sibandze blew his whistle for half-time, Umkhonto KaShaka were enjoying the 2-0 lead. The second-half saw the tempo of the game dropping and it was Insingizi yezulu who made an attempt at goal in this stanza, when former Swallows left back Mncedisi ‘Mphotho’ Dlamini delivered a gift-wrapped cross which was met by Bavukile Shabangu, who’s header missed the target. The red and white capital city giants Coach, Caleb Ngwenya, gave the new signings debuts; this includes right back Kwakhe Thwala, Newman Philiso and Siyabonga Zwane who was introduced in the second-half.

The host tried to get back into the game but Swallows stood firm and held on their two goals to hand Nsingizini their third defeat in the second round. The result had no major impact on the log going to the round of 17 next week.
