TWO PLE YOUNGSTERS OFF TO ITALY

MBABANE – Eswatini national Under-23s youngsters Thubelihle Mavuso and Yeki Khumalo will attend an assessment in Italy early next month.

“Nsingizini Hotspurs player Thubelihle Mavuso and Yeki Khumalo have been invited to an unnamed soccer team for assessment in Italy and they will both leave early next month,” a source said. The youngsters who both play for the national Under-23s have been very influential in this season campaign. The phenomenal Thubelihle was in the inaugural MoMo Cup named the deserving  best player of the tournament after being instrumental in helping Nsingizini Hotspurs win the lucrative MoMo Cup. The youngster has been known in every MTN Premier League game to display top-shelf football and has been a worst nightmare to defenders.

Moneni Pirates’ Yeki Khumalo is another youngster who has fitted like a glove in a hand at Ikabort Masocha’s high approach passing game and was last week causing havoc in their defeat to Young Buffaloes in a match that played at Mhlume Stadium.

Eswatini national Under-20 coach Mduduzi Nxumalo mentioned that this was good news for the country “Hearing that the players will be going for an assessment in Italy is good news in terms of development of the players. Playing or even having an assessment in a country like Italy can also help the players to see how things are done in other countries and in general, it can benefit the players. Personally, I feel like if such moves can happen frequently, our national team can also improve,” he said.

Pirates and Nsingizini Hotsuprs Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mbuso Hlophe and well-known spokesperson, Sibusiso ‘Mnotfo’ Dlamini  could not be drawn for comment after their cellphones rang unanswered when called yesterday. Local players who have secured moves abroad of late included Mbabane Swallows’ Leon ‘Schuster’ Manyisa, who was in Armenia in 2019 but quickly returned home following disagreements with his then employers, who were identified as FC Van. Mhlengi Fakudze was also rumoured to be off to Belarus.

The latter was also earlier last year playing for FC Malaga Academy in Spain, where he was attached for six months. The impressive Mhlengi impressed during short his stint. He is currently undergoing assessment at South African low division side AmaTuks. Yeboah Football Academy from Dubai was also arranging the player a move to FC Energetik-BGU Minsk from Belarus. Recently Tommy Morgan joined the Malaga City Academy programme in Spain and scored in his debut game for the club.
