MBABANE – After Mbabane Swallows suspended midfielder Mohammed Kabia, the player has vowed not to attend the Disciplinary Committee (DC).

This is according to a letter which was sent to this publication yesterday by the player’s parent team, Alaska FC from Sierra Leone. “We are writing in relation to the letter addressed to our client Mr Mohamed Kabia whom has forwarded this correspondence to us, his parent club Alaska FC, advising Mohammed to attend a disciplinary hearing in which charges are to be brought before him,” reads the letter. Mohammed was charged with gross misconduct in that he failed to attend the official game against Nsingizini Hotspurs FC in contradiction of clause 3.1.1 of his contract of employment.

He was further charged for allegedly contravening Article 4.2 for failure to attend to the team’s camp. He was also charged with gross insubordination in that on or about February 19, 2023, he allegedly defied lawful instruction to attend a club game against Nsingizini Hotspurs FC and contravened clause 3.1.6 of his contract of employment. Meanwhile, his parent club has advised the player not to attend the hearing. “I will therefore, like to inform you that Mohammed will not be attending the hearing, of which we do not have a date for as this is not stated in the invitation of hearing addressed to Mohammed and for the other reason stated below,” read a press release from the club.

Advised

The club advised the player not to attend any training or club matches as Mbabane Swallows FC allegedly did not adhere to their  agreement to deposit E20 000 to them, the parent club, Alaska FC, for loan agreement fee as stated in the player’s loan contract dated and signed on Saturday, October 1 2022. “Due to the parent club Alaska FC not receiving this money by the deadline stated, the contract has been breached by Mbabane Swallows FC and subsequently the contract was then void until this had been corrected and the situation having yet to be resolved,” said his parent team.

The club further highlighted that it has also been brought to their attention that Mbabane Swallows FC was now claiming that they did not loan Kabia from Alaska FC, despite transfer made through the TMS system from Alaska FC and contract being signed, clearly stating the terms and conditions Mbabane Swallows FC had accepted on the basis of Mohamed Kabia being transferred to them.  “Mbabane Swallows FC has also refused to engage with the parent club Alaska FC in any correspondence in relation to Mohamed Kabia and as a result, we now ask that any further discussion or correspondence regarding this matter should be made directly to Alaska FC, Mohamed Kabia’s parent club,” read the statement from the team.

Conclusion

The club further instructed Kabia not to engage in any further conversation on the matter until final conclusions had been received from FIFA and all evidence has been reviewed and taken into consideration. Meanwhile Mbabane Swallows General Manager Sandile Zwane said he was not aware of the said letter, which instructed the player not to attend to the disciplinary hearing. “I have not seen the letter you are talking about. All I know is that the player has been hauled to appear before the DC,” said Zwane. He said, however, he would consult with the legal representatives of the team on the way forward.
