MBABANE – “I will continue working hard.”

Green Mamba workaholic box-to-box midfielder Mxolisi Mkhontfo says he is not disappointed by being omitted from Sihlangu squad despite the public calling for him to be selected for the latest 25-man Sihlangu squad which was Coach Dominic Kunene’s first in the year. Sihlangu will play back-to-back Total Energies AFCON 2023 Qualifier fixtures against Cape Verde during the upcoming FIFA International Window that will start from the 20th -28th next month.  It will be round three and four matches. Sihlangu have a point to show for their campaign so far, after a draw with Togo and a defeat against Burkina Faso.

Instrumental

The midfielder has been instrumental in his team’s change of fortunes, as he has been scoring goals for the Ernest Mavuso-led side and was selected last month for the Player of the Month award. “I am not disappointed at all .What I can say is that I respect the coach’s decision and I support all the guys all the way. As a player I will keep on pushing, hoping that my chance will come and if not I will still keep on pushing, “he said. When asked why Mkhontfo was left out for his squad which will face Cape Verde next month, Kunene indicated that the squad called for camp was not final and there would be players who would be considered for the final squad.

Absentee

The on-form Green Mamba was not the only absentee from the Kunene squad as Premier League top goal so far this campaign in Swallows’ Felix Badernhorst who has 14 goals in 16 game was also left out. Other players who were not called up include among others, Mbabane Highlanders shot-stopperKhanyakwezwe Shabalala, Sibongakonkhe Silenge of Green Mamba, Peter Dlamini (Highlanders), Neliswa Dlamini (Swallows) and Muzi Tsabedze (Sea Birds).
