MANZINI – Relegation-threatened Manzini Wanderers have endured a disastrous outing following a humiliation by city rivals Manzini Wanderers 5-0 in an MTN Premier League game played here yesterday.

Wanderers were victorious in the first round fixture as they narrowly beat Sundowns 1-0 in the same venue. It was a different game yesterday as the home team run riot over the visitors as they scored five without a reply. It was the visitors who made the first attempt at goal, 18 minutes into the game, when Majahesibili ‘Giggs’ Dlamini let go a glorious chance to open the deadlock as he blasted the ball awfully wide inside the box after receiving a pass from Lindokuhle Dlamini. They were back again in the half-hour mark when Phathizwe Mabuza’s shot inside the box was cleared for a fruitless corner. Sundowns took a comfortable lead against the run of play two minutes before half-time. Man of the Match Siphamandla Maseko let fly a scorcher outside the box that gave goalkeeper Stali Nyambe no chance between the sticks.

The score at half time was 1-0 with Sundowns enjoying the slender lead. First half substitute Tony Brankinos repaid coach Gcina Dlamini’s faith when he banged a brace. Brankinos was introduced 25 minutes into the first half for Luyanda Mnguni. Brankinos was on target seven minutes before the hour mark, when he galloped down the left flank, leaving defenders for dead to let fly a rocket which beat Nyambe hands down. Wanderers were now showing signs of tiredness, as Sundowns piled pressure in search for the third goal. Wanderers cracked in the 72nd minute when Brankinos completed the brace.

It was Maseko who added the fourth in the 78th minute to complete his brace as he calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
