COACH MBONGENI BACK AT P.P. BLACK SWALLOWS
MBABANE – There is no better place than home.
That is the story of lanky Gaffer Mbongeni Dlamini, who has since taken over the hot seat at Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows with immediate effect. The mentor is filling the void which has been left by seasoned Coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe, who has been released to faltering hub giants, Manzini Wanderers. Dlamini is not new with the MTN National First Division (NFD) side. He was at helm last season, taking the team to a third place finish. Bafana Bemaphasela, as the northern Hhohho outfit are fondly known in local football, Public Relations Officer (PRO) Philile Dlamini revealed the latest developments yesterday.
“Today we would like to announce that we have appointed Mbongeni Dlamini as the new head coach of Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows. He will resume his duties on Monday, March 20, 2023,” Dlamini said. It went on to state that the towering tactician was not new in the Black Swallows, as he helped the side to finish in the top three bracket last season. She said the coach was the right candidate to take over from Hlophe and requested the Black Swallows family, players, management, elders and supporters to welcome the coach with both hands and further give him the needed support. “The club’s intention is to commit the coach for a longer period rather than just to finish the remainder of the season,” she said.
She further revealed that Dlamini has been mandated to take the club to the top four brackets, come end of the season. The team are currently sitting on position 10, with 20 points from 16 games.
