MEDICS CALL FOR SUBVENTION FROM PLE
MBABANE – Elite teams’ doctors are calling for the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to help in the basic medical needs.
This was revealed during the PLE Team Doctors Workshop, which was organised by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Medical Committee at Sigwaca House on Saturday chaired by Welcome Motsa. It was MTN National First Division (NFD) Sisonke representative Mpendulo Mavuso, who made this request when the floor was allowed to make submissions on challenges they faced while executing their work during games. This was after the Emergency Medical Services’ (EMS), Sibusiso Kunene, made his submissions, where he highlighted that they faced life-threatening challenges during games from the medics. He also made startling revelation that there was only one ambulance for all sporting codes in the country.
“At Sisonke we are facing the same challenges faced by the other teams of basic medical needs and my request from the PLE is to allocate money for the subvention of medicals for the teams,” Mavuso said. His submission was received with a round of applause by the other medics, who also highlighted that they were faced with the shortage of basic medical equipment such as bandages. Meanwhile, PLE Football Manager Pat Vilakati, who also attended the workshop, said the submission by the Sisonke team doctor was a valid one, but could not comment on it. Vilakati, however, said it was the duty of the teams owners to make it a point that the required medical equipment for a club was provided. On the other hand, EFA Medical Committee Chairman Motsa advised the medics that they should be part of those assigned to purchase the medical items.
