BOXER THABISO SCOOPS TOP INTERNATIONAL POST

This is the story of Eswatini boxer Thabiso Dlamini, who is based in Russia. He has been appointed into the BIIU Independent Vetting Panel by International Boxing Association (IBA).
The Boxing Independent Integrity Unit (BIIU) is the operationally independent unit, in charge of dealing with all ethical and disciplinary issues (including issues related to conflicts of interest), as well as conducting eligibility checks and selecting candidates for elections and providing education and development services.The BIIU operates in accordance with Boxing Independent Integrity Unit Rules, approved by the IBA Board of Directors on September 23, 2022.Operational independents of the BIIU assumes that it shall have its own managing bodies and staff independent from IBA, IT and security system, website and branding. The BIIU has its own budged allocated by the IBA Board. The boxer, who is currently in India for different IBA meetings, said this was very big. ‘‘I’m so excited and happy because the recognition is big. There is no athlete who has got such an opportunity in the country, to be in the athlete committee for all the boxers in the world. I’m also in the vetting panel from IBA, which gives me an advantage that I can have a say on appointments,” he said.
The role of the Bill Independent Vetting Panel would select candidates to the BIIU managing Board and to appoint appropriate members to this body, which is responsible for governing BIIU and ensuring that the BIIU carries out its role and resconsibilities in accordance with the IBA constitution and the BIIU rules. The boxer who follows in the footsteps of Eswatini Boxing (EBA) President Pearl Dlamini, who was last year voted into the IBA Board of Directors to represent the African continent. He mentioned that he was motivated by the recognition to continue working harder. ‘‘Everything starts small and I’m very excited for getting such a big recognition from IBA,” Dlamini said. Dlamini, who represented Eswatini in the Tokyo Olympics early last year but could not make the grade, was recently in Morocco to compete in the Golden Belt Series, which was his first fight of the year.
