BUBISTA PRAISES ESWATINI
MBOMBELA – Despite his squad having over 90 per cent of foreign-based players, Cape Verde Coach Bubista believes Eswatini posed a threat with locally-based players.
He was asked by this publication on what he made of the crop of Eswatini players versus his own Europe-based players. “I cannot single out individual players but I think the whole team is good. The fact that most players play in the local league gives them advantage as they can easily understand each other,” said Bubista. He said having to assemble a squad from different leagues somehow gave him a tough time. “My players are good too but they need time to gel together. However, Im proud of my players for grinding the results; ours now is to focus on the next game,” he said. He also highlighted that he did not want to focus on his opponents or any other team in group B, but their fate of qualifying was in their own hands. He also praised their goalkeeper Vozinha for making numerous saves.
Meanwhile, Eswatini Coach Dominic Kunene said they created chances but failed to convert them. “If you can’t convert then you cannot win games. We stuck to our plans and did not concede in the first half and we were attacking in the second half in search of a goal but it did not happen,” said Kunene. He said it was not a wise decision to play an open game. He said he was looking at introducing youngsters to build for the future.
