DERBY LIKE ALL GAMES – CALEB
MBABANE – “A derby is a game like all games and we have an agenda to push as Mbabane Swallows.”
This was said by Swallows Head Coach Caleb Ngwenya during the pre-match briefing held at Sigwaca House yesterday ahead of the Mbabane Derby, billed for the Mavuso Sports Centre tomorrow at 3pm. The mother of all derbies in Eswatini Football was won by Highlanders with a 2-1 margin in the first round in the same venue. “We are in a crucial stage of the league, we know what the derby means to our fans and we want to go out there and give them a show,” Ngwenya said. The former Green Mamba coach said it would be important for them to win against Inkunz’emnyama as they were challenging for gold. He declared that they could not afford to lose against Highlanders as they wanted to keep in sight of the two teams above them.
Preparations
He also said preparations for this epic clash were going according and his players would work very hard to get the maximum points. Meanwhile, his counterpart at Highlanders in Assistant Coach Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya, said they would come to this one fired up for it, as they wanted it more than Umkhonto KaShaka. “If you want to win, you must attack and this is the plan for Sunday (tomorrow). We will attack Swallows from the start so that they can make mistakes for us to score,” Makhanya said. He further said they had a plan for Swallows not just Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst and they would deal with the team, not an individual. Makhanya said they could not run away from the fact that Badenhorst was currently on fire and scoring goals consistently, but that did not mean they should plan for him only.
