SHARPSHOOTER ‘FELA’ 90MIN AWAY FROM 15K
MBABANE – Despite not scoring for the past three games, Mbabane Swallows striker Felix Badenhorst can smell the ‘golden boot.’
The former TS Galaxy player has scored 20 goals. His closest contender in Manzini Sea Birds striker Muzi Tsabedze is four goals behind. Interestingly, Swallows are going to play Sea Birds. Tsabedze has to score over four goals to win the top scorer award. The two sides played to a goalless draw in the first round. It is highly unlikely for Tsabedze to net over four goals judging by his form lately. He has not been scoring goals. Coming third on the scorers’ charts is Young Buffaloes striker Njabulo Maziya on 15 goals. He also needs work harder in their last game against Tambankulu Callies. Badenhorst said the top scorer award would be a consolation prize. “All I can say, the top scorer was not my priority, as I would have loved to win something with the team but unfortunately we couldn’t do it. If I happen to win it, it would be a consolation trophy for me,” said the former Eswatini international.
Winning
Swallows were close to winning the league or even finishing second, but all their hopes were dashed away after Royal Leopard beat them 4-2 this past weekend.This was during week 25 game which was played at Mavuso Sports Centre this past Sunday. The league race is now between Green Mamba and Young Buffaloes. The former are three points clear at the top. The sides face Royal Leopard and Tambankulu Callies in that order. Meanwhile, the golden boot was won by Buffaloes’ Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze on 26 goals last season and Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa who was at Mbabane Highlanders netted 23 times.
