WANDERERS ’KEEPER FOR TOP ETHIOPIAN SIDE!
MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers first-choice goalkeeper Sitali Nyambe’s impressive displays in the Premier League have not gone unnoticed in professional leagues.
The goalkeeper is said to be on the wanted list of Ethiopian Coffee SC from Ethiopia. The Zambia-born short stopper was signed by the maroon and white side in the second registration of the league, which ended late February and made his Wanderers debut in an MTN Premier League game against Seven Dreams at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground. According to a source within the player’s camp, Nyambe who has produced quite a few man of the match performances in the league is on the wanted list of the Ethiopian team and his contract with the hub giants will expire next Tuesday. “Sitali’s performances in the league have been great and have been able to cement his spot in the Wanderers goals. Ethiopian Coffee has shown strong serious interest in having him for next season and the club believe that he can add value in their ambitions of challenging for the league next season,” said the source.
Ethiopian Coffee Sport Club, otherwise known as Ethiopian Buna, is a professional Ethiopian football club based in Addis Ababa. They are a member of the Ethiopian Football Federation and play in the top division of Ethiopian Football, the Ethiopian Premier League. Their home stadium is Addis Ababa Stadium. Along with rivals Saint George, it boasts one of the largest fan bases in Ethiopia and the club is currently on position six on the charts, with seven games to go. The former Budapest Honvert (Hungary) player who has never received a salary at the club said it was true that a club from Ethiopia was interested in his services. “Right now what is on my mind is the last game against Mbabane Highlanders, which is important for the team to win so that we can finish in a better position and make the team supporters happy. I have had few offers even from teams locally, but I will decide my future after the game against Highlanders,” he said.
The hub giants’ Public Relations Officer (PRO), Lucky ‘Majayivane’ Dlamini, could not be drawn for comment after his cellphone rang unanswered. Meanwhile, the Ethiopia League is in the top 30 (position 27) in Africa ahead of Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, among others.
