MBABANE- Mbabane Highlanders Kit Manager Sikhumbuzo ‘Mtheleweni’ Matimela is lucky to be alive after surviving a horrific accident this past weekend.

The Inkunzi Emnyama official, who was suspended for the rest of the season by the Premier League of Eswatini office together with Green Mamba’ Simiso ‘Khathazamanyemadoda’ Masilela, after they were found guilty of pitch invasion, is believed to have a brush with death while on his way to Mavuso Sports Centre.

According to a close source, who did not want his identity to be revealed, ‘Mtheleweni’ was on his way to watch Highlanders’ game against Wanderers when he lost control of the car near Lobamba Bridge. “He was admitted to Mbabane Government hospital on Sunday afternoon after losing control of Mbabane Highlanders’ Bonginkosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini’s car near Lobamba. He was left with a broken arm and few bruises in his upper body. The car is badly damaged.

“Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe when told of the ordeal, promised to fix the car on behalf of ‘Mtheleweni’ who was left traumatised after the accident,” said the source. Meanwhile, the Mbabane giants kit manager said it was true that he was involved in an accident and was recovering very well at the club house in Ezulwini. “I encountered the accident at Lobamba and I’m recovering very well. I am currently on a plaster of Paris after hurting my arm and I was disturbed by a car which came out of nowhere. While trying to overtake it, the accident happened,” he said. Highlanders MD Chief Kgomongwe could not be drawn for comment after his cellphone rang unanswered when called yesterday afternoon.
