MBABANE – Two of Eswatini’s most successful bodybuilders are currently preparing for the Andrew Jacked Classics (AJC) to be held in South Africa (SA).

The International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) professional league in SA alongside Candic WhiteHead and Champagne Products, will present the NPC Worldwide AJC.
The two prolific bodybuilders will be heading to SA, Johannesburg at the Walter Sisulu Arena on July 1. Arnaldo Barbosa, who recently came back from competing very well in Cape Town, mentioned that it was not easy to obtain the results he got. While he was preparing for the Cape Town PCA Physical Culture Storm Championships, he had to prepare a fellow teammate Kiky Santos, who was competing for the very first time.

 Aided

Meanwhile, Simanga Maziya, who is more of a senior to Barbosa, is continuously being aided by Eswatini Fitness Centre (EFC), as mentioned in a previous publication. The experienced bodybuilder highlighted that he had been able to focus much better after being given the helping hand. “I am able to give my preparations all of my attention, without having to worry about things like my diet,” expressed Maziya. Simanga mentioned that the AJC would serve as a qualifier for professionals. Meanwhile, Simanga has been competing at a professional level since 2004 and has been consistent from the get go. “When I started, I competed in the less than 75kg category, which was quite light to what I wanted to weigh. As I continued, my weight improved as well. As of now, I currently weigh less than 90kg,” mentioned Maziya. For the AJC, all competitors should have been fully registered online by June 26, this year.

Specific

Bodybuilders usually need a specific diet in order to build the muscles or divisions they need for competing. For example, a bodybuilder weighing less than 90kg might consume 40-50 grammes of protein at 8–9am for breakfast, then train at 1am. They have 40-50 grammes of protein at 12-1pm for lunch or post-training; 40-50 grammes of protein at dinner between 5-6pm; and then a final meal of 40-50 grams of non-protein at 9-10 pm before heading to bed by 11pm.
