MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers Captain Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule’s contract with the team has expired.

The former national team Sihlangu midfield maestro joined the maroon and white hub giants from Mbabane Highlanders at the beginning of the recently-ended season. The player with an educated left foot signed a season-long contract with the Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe-coached side, which recently expired. The former Denver Sundowns versatile midfield king-pin had a wonderful season at the Weslians, as he steered them out of relegation. His last minute strike against MTN National First Division-bound Tambankulu Callies proved to be the goal which saved the team from the dreaded relegation axe, which was hovering over them from the first day of the 2022/23 elite league season.

A source close to the player revealed that ‘Mlaba’s stay at Wanderers came to an end as his season-long contract expired a few days after the last game of season against Highlanders. He said the player was waiting for the team to engage him on the possibility of tying him up again, as he proved to be the right tonic for them in the past season. “It is no secret that Mlaba’s contract with Wanderers has expired. I know that Wanderers will engage him once again, as he was one of their outstanding players in the recently-finished season. It wouldn’t be a good idea for Wanderers to let go off him,” the source said. The player also confirmed that his contract had expired from the team. He, however did not want to comment further. He said the right people to comment were the club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Lucky ‘Majayivane’ Dlamini. Getting comments from ‘Majayivane’ proved futile as his phone rung unanswered by the time this report was compiled.
