OVER 10 EUROPE-BASED STARS TO FACE SIHLANGU
MBABANE – Sihlangu should brace themselves for a tough encounter when they face Togo in less than two weeks time.
The Dominic Kunene-led charges will host The ‘Sparrowhawks’, as Togo are fondly known, in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The game will be played at Mbombela Stadium on June 18 (next Sunday). Kick-off time is 3pm. Despite that Togo has slim chances of qualifying; they selected a strong squad to face Sihlangu. There are over 10 Europe-based players who have been selected to face the Dominic Kunene-led side. Some of the top names are Hamburger SV II goalkeeper Steven Foly Mensah, who plies his trade in Germany; Djené who plays for Getafe in Spain also forms part of the squad; another noticeable name is that of Loic Bessile, who plays for Toulouse, France.
Portugal
You cannot overlook Kennedy Boateng, who plays for Santa Clara of Portugal. Alaixys Romao is also another key player who plays for Ionikos of Greece and Dermane Karim is another player to look out for. He plies his trade in Holland for Dutch side Feyenoord. Sihlangu is currently third with two points, while Togo is languishing at the bottom of the standings with two points. Both countries will be playing to finish on a high note. Their qualification hopes hang by a thread.
