SWIMLAB COACH INSPIRED BY MAURITIUS EXPOSURE
MBABANE – Swimlab Coach Welcome Nhlabatsi who is currently in Mauritius feels the sport will benefit through his visit to the Indian Ocean island nation.
Nhlabatsi left last week and he would return to the country later this week. He shared that the trip was meant to establish some relationships with a club in Mauritius called CNS. “It’s true that I’m currently in Mauritius and my visit here will benefit the country. There is also a swimmer who lives here. This was also a chance for me to come to meet the team he works with, his coach and physiotherapist, among other personnel. It has been going well so far and I have been at his training sessions to meet his coaches,” he said. The seasoned coach, who led the country to Confederation of African (CANA) Swimming Zone IV Championships and came back with a total of 16 medals, mentioned that he had also been given a chance to train the team, which was an honour for him.
Opportunities
“We are also looking at creating a good relationship between Swimlab and CNS since you are aware that I’m the Vice President of Eswatini swimming Association (ESA). I’m not just here for Swimlab but my visit is also about creating opportunities for the country. I’m here for the swimmers and we are looking at finding opportunities where our swimmers can come to compete in Mauritius and vice versa,” the coach said. The national team coach said Mauritius recently hosted the Winter National Champs in May and they were talking of bringing a team to compete. “I will be meeting with CNS executive this week to finalise the deal,” he said. Nhlabatsi went on to thank his sponsor who was identified as Gaetin Ning, who made his trip to Mauritius possible.
