E100K FOR MAGUGA BASS CHALLENGE
MBABANE – The Eswatini Angling Association (EAA) continues to reel in fishermen as Maguga Dam will host a limited 100 people for the E100 000 Bass challenge.
The EAA has a host of events for the second half of the year, where there will be another competition at Maguga Dam in September, after the Sand River Dam Bucket List Challenge on July 15 and 16. Unlike the Bucket List Challenge, anglers at Maguga will not be limited to numbers on the boats, simply because Maguga accommodates more numbers on the dam. The Bucket List Challenge specified that the angler, who catches a bass weighing six kilogrammes or more will be awarded with E100 000, as well as the fisherman with the biggest catch of the day will get E15 000 for the biggest bass category going all the way to 10th place.
Weight
This time around, the biggest bass weight has been reduced from six kilogrammes to five point four kilogrammes, because the weight of bass at Maguga Dam varies between five kilograms and six. Worth mentioning is that the Bucket List Challenge will serve as a fund raiser for the South African Regional Union challenge set to cast its lines in August. All interested anglers are made aware that even at the Maguga Bass Challenge, only artificial bait is permitted; the use of live bait is not advised on. Shortly after the EAA chosen team has returned from South Africa, they will be preparing for the World Championships, which will take place in Portugal this year in October.
