MBABANE – Zithande Athletics Club will hit the road for the celebrated Comrades Marathon this coming Sunday.

Comrades Marathon is Africa’s biggest longest and old marathon that attracts long distance runners from all over the world. At Zithande, they believe that ‘Fear means forget everything and run’. This is what keeps them going. They are ready to face their fear head on and hit the finishing line of the Africa’s biggest marathon.

Reached for comment, the club Coach, Nsizwa Thwala, said the marathon marked the end of the seven-month long training and preparation. They will begin their Comrades training this year in November, with the Woza Festival Training Running Programme. “I will be sending 13 runners and I expect them to successfully complete the challenge. Seven of the runners are Comrades novices (first-timers). Every year my team is made of novices because we are forever developing runners,” said Thwala. He further revealed that the hard training he had been instilling to the racers would see them through and join 2 000 other runners who have entered the race.
