I USE PARKRUN FOR COMPETITIVE RACES – MDUDUZI
MBABANE – Swazi Slojos top runner Mduduzi Dlamini uses the weekly parkrun to prepare for competitive races under the Athletics Eswatini (AE) banner.
Dlamini revealed this after coming top in the Mbabane Parkrun, which was held at the Albert Millin situated at the Mbabane Golf Club yesterday. The runner said he was happy that he topped all the other athletes in the 219th edition, but what was important to him was improving his time and this helped him a lot to gauge his fitness level for upcoming races.
new record
“I usually compare my previous weeks’ time with the new recorded time. I then add all the times and that way I can see how much time I would take in a competitive race,” Dlamini said.
He said the secret for him being always on top of his game was through dedication, perseverance and hard work. He urged other athletes to pull up their socks and train hard to achieve podium finishes in all races, whether in the parkruns where there were no prizes in other races.
performance
He also said he was happy about his overall performance since the year started in the athletics season, but he disclosed that his dream was to eventually defeat Mancoba Nhlabatsi in all races, as he was the only runner in the country who gave him hard times in competitions.
