MBABANE – A reunion between Mbabane Highlanders and National First Division (NFD) League side coach Siyabonga Bhembe is on the cards.

Ahead of the new season 2023/24, Highlanders are reportedly working on boosting their technical bench with a qualified physical trainer. This is more so because the black and white Inkunz’emnyama parted ways with South African Masilo Matsilonyane in the second round of last season. “Siyabonga Bhembe’s name immediately cropped up with the MD as you may be aware they have always communicated and have a good relationship. “If Bhembe’s available, which I think he will be as his contract at Ezulwini United runs out at the end of this month, the MD is ready to make him an even better offer than the E15 000 he earned last time he was here,” an impeccable source said.

It is understood Bhembe has already been approached with the aim to invite him to Pretoria at the end of his current contract to sign on the dotted line with Inkunz’emnyama. The former Mbabane Swallows co-coach and physical trainer last season who ended up with United, after the former terminated his contract upon hiring Caleb Ngwenya as the head coach, is yet to respond to the invite it was gathered.

plans to win the league

“We got plans to win the league and to achieve that we must fix every loose end that needs fixing. We’ll get a player or two for each and every department and bolster our technical bench.
“Siyabonga has worked with us before and we know he has a track record that speaks for itself, he is valuable if you look at the teams and results he has been involved with,” Kgomongwe diplomatically responded. However, he said at the moment the technical bench was led by South African Head Coach Solly Luvhengo who our sources said was also expected to be involved in the anticipated meeting with Bhembe before he as offered a two to three years contract. “Luvhengo is in KZN to scout players especially a striker as the NFD playoffs have started and he’ll be back soon for more planning. We’ll see what happens but yes, Siyabonga is someone we know and I believe he is ready to sign on the dotted line with us,” Kgomongwe said.

He would not go into the salary offer for now but said all would be revealed in due course as the club always had official unveiling of new members. neither deny nor confirm Bhembe could neither deny nor confirm the matter but simply asked not to comment at all. Meanwhile, Highlanders have recently been reported to have an interest in former Cape Town All Stars winger Justice Figuareido and Swallows duo of Felix Badenhorst and Sifiso Mabila. However, latest reports suggest that Kgomongwe has been advised to look away from Badenhorst and Mabila unless it turned out Swallows would perhaps not reach any agreements with them.
