THE CHALLENGE WALK A SUCCESS – KHABO
MALOLOTJA – Cheshire Homes Director Khabo Dlamini said the challenge walk which was attended by companies and individuals yesterday at Malolotja was a success.
This sponsored annual health and a wellness walk at Malolotja is normally held on the second week of June. It is an event meant to raise funds and a great vehicle to ensure inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. It also offers a great opportunity to share ideas among individuals and corporations as well as an ideal for improving social values. The walk made a return at the venue after being halted by COVID -19. Dlamini said the event was a success, as participants came to show their support in numbers, adding that she was grateful because this was a fundraising drive. “The event was a big success and companies came out to support this wonderful drive which was about supporting the children. We are happy that companies came out and joined hands with us in this mission as we continue to raise funds. Everyone who joined in the walk chose between two routes: a shorter 7km and the more trying 14km,” she said.
inviting
Malolotja Nature Reserve is a serenely beautiful place. It has gently sloping mountains which are inviting and capturing, providing the perfect setup for a slow-paced, leisurely walk or even a run. Even though wildlife was scarcely visible on the day, there was that very welcome sight of zebras strolling at a distance. It was a sight to behold. Although Dlamini, who was speaking on behalf of Cheshire Homes patron Inkhosikati LaNtentesa, could not disclose the amount of funds that were raised yesterday. She only said she was grateful for the funds received, which would be put to good use despite companies still feeling the effects of the COVID – 19 pandemic.
Some of the companies who joined the walk included among others, United Holdings, Eswatini Building Society (SBS), Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC), Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC), Times of Eswatini, Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) and Dixie’s International. These companies joined hands in being the sponsors of the walk.
