MBABANE – Christmas came early for the Mbabane East folk.

This was after Sibambene Mbabane East Foundation forked out E44 000 towards two initiatives for their community. The foundation was officially launched yesterday at the iconic Msunduza Sports Ground in the presence of its core members. This was during the half-time of a social game between Real Masters and Six to Six social teams. Mbongeni Ndlela, one of the founders of the foundation, revealed that as members of the Mbabane East Constituency, they decided to come up with this initiative as a way of giving back to their hood. The Sibambane Mbabane East Foundation is made up of four members; Welcome ‘Wex’ Dlamini, Mbongeni Ndlela, Var Ndwandwe, Simanga ‘Essien’ Mavuso and Sanele ‘Nombe’ Mnisi.
The members revealed that they collectively decided to raise funds to the tune of E44 000 towards two projects for the community.

Happy

“We are happy to be here today as this is a confirmation that our tournament is taking place as planned. This tournament is sponsored to the tune of E20 000. I must say that the money is from the pockets of the members,” Ndlela said. The member then revealed that the other amount of E22 000 was used to purchase jackets for the community police members, to keep them warm during this winter season, while executing their job of guarding against any criminal activities in the area.

Meanwhile, Welcome Dlamini, who is one of the members, promised the community members that this was the beginning of good things to come for the community as they would continue assisting where they could. He said they were hoping that the next sponsorship would be bigger and better. “This tournament is not a once-off thing, more are yet to come. Our main goal is to introduce a league for the social teams with a better package,” Dlamini said. He then revealed that this weekend it would be prize presentation and he finally invited all the community members to join them as they would be donating blankets and food parcels.

The finals of the E20 000 Social Teams Tournament will be played next Saturday at the same venue, with the champions taking home E4 100. He also said all the participating teams would get a certain amount. In total, there are 20 teams around the community, which formed part of the tournament.
