CAF CHAMPIONS, CONFED PLAY-OFF DATES REVEALED

MBABANE – Eswatini’ CAF envoys in Green Mamba and Young Buffaloes have one month to prepare for their CAF competitions.

The two sides will represent the country in both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) flagship inter-club tournaments. Green Mamba will play in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, while Young Buffaloes will represent the country in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup.
According to dates by https://en.wikipedia.org, Mamba and the army side will play their qualifying rounds in August. This means that they have July to get their house in order, comply with CAF requirements and be all set for action in August.

Qualifying

The 2023/24 CAF Champions League (officially the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons) will be the 60th edition of Africa’s premier club football tournament organised by CAF. The dates for the qualifying rounds are August 18 and September 30, 2023. The winners of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League will automatically qualify for the 2024/25 CAF Champions League, and earn the right to play against the winners of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup in the 2024 CAF Super Cup.

Contest

The 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, where Buffaloes will contest is the 21st edition of Africa’s secondary club football tournament, organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), under the current CAF Confederation Cup title after the merger of CAF Cup and African Cup Winners’ Cup. It will be played on August 20 and October 29, 2023. The winners will automatically qualify for the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup, and also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League in the 2024 CAF Super Cup.

Meanwhile, when reached for comment, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said they were not aware of these dates, they were currently busy with logistics for AFCON Qualifiers against Togo. Sihlangu will play Togo tomorrow at Mbombela Stadium, kick-off time is 5pm.
