EX-SA CHIEFS STAR MBESUMA HERE FOR RASA

MBABANE – Former Kaizer Chiefs and Zambia-born retired striker Collins Mbesuma will be in the country ahead of the fifth edition of the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) set to take place tomorrow.

This is according to press release from Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council’s (ESRC) social media pages, mainly Facebook. “Celebrated former South Africa’s glamour giants Kaizer Chiefs striker, Collins Mbesuma will grace the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA).The now retired record-breaking striker arrives for what is expected to be a glitzy affair on Saturday morning,” reads part of the statement.

Collins Mbesuma, famously known as ‘The Hurricane or Ntofontofo’ was born on February 3, 1984 in Luanshya and has played for Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Portsmouth from England. The burly forward was once named PSL Player of the Season in 2005, after scoring a sensational 35 goals in one season with Kaizer Chiefs.

RASA are a Region V premier event to celebrate sporting excellence from the 10 member countries. These are Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa (SA), Zambia and Zimbabwe. The accolades are bestowed upon athletes, coaches, member countries, journalists and teams that have produced outstanding performances in sport at regional and international level over the past year. The essence is to maintain credibility by considering winners of respective member country awards as automatic RASA nominees.
Among the nominees representing Eswatini is swimming sensation Hayley Hoy.
