MBABANE – End of the road.

This is the story of Mbabane Highlanders strong defender Peter Dlamini, who is reportedly leaving Inkunzi emnyama when his contract expires next week Friday. The former Sihlangu player had been linked with an exit from the ‘Bull’s kraal towards the end of the 2022/23 season, after having a falling out with Solly Luvhengo.

According to sources in the Highlanders camp was that the player wanted to leave the team after he was reportedly not happy about the treatment he received from the team when he was nursing a knee injury, which he suffered during one of the league games. “Peter is a player that loves the club and was at a time playing with his injury, but the turning point was when he felt that the club was not doing enough to support him with his injury he accused the club of failing to take care of his medical expenses,” the source said.

Irked

The source revealed that what also irked the player was the deduction of his salary in the past month without an explanation. The source went on to reveal that the player had made his mind on exiting the ‘Bull’s kraal and was likely to cross the rubicon and join arch-rivals Mbabane Swallows or MTN Premier League champions Green Mamba. “He wants to play for Swallows or Green Mamba. The team with a suitable offer will definitely snatch him, but don’t be surprised to see the player travelling with Swallows when they play in the pre-season tournament in Durban next month,” the source said. Meanwhile, Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe said if Peter wanted to leave he can do so.

Respect

“Highlanders are a big team to follow a player who doesn’t have respect and Peter can go. We played with Manqoba Malindzisa in some games last season without him, who was always injured and we won games without him. No player is biggest than any football club and we are willing to let him leave if he wants to do that. We will find other quality good players in the team who will replace him,” he said. Reached for comment, Green Mamba CEO Mandla Sibiya said they were not aware of the latest developments. No immediate comment could be reached from the player by the time this report was compiled. Meanwhile, Dlamini has been very influential at Highlanders and this earned him a call up to national team Sihlangu Coach Dominic Kunene.
