MBABANE – Repossessed.

Mbabane Swallows midfielder Leon Manyisa’s car, a Volkswagen (VW) red Polo was repossessed by a messenger of the court in the Manzini Region for failure to abide by the agreement he had with the person who sold him the car. According to an impeccable source close to the matter, the former Manzini Wanderers star possessed the vehicle for two or three months before he was seen without it. “I don’t know what happened to Leon’s car as these days he is not using it. I last saw the car about a week ago, it was a red Polo. Maybe it developed mechanical faults,” the source explained.
Our sister publication, the Times of Eswatini ran a notice of sale advert in a court case between the plaintiff (Bhacile Rose Maseko) and the defendant (Leon Manyisa) yesterday.

The messenger of the court, Bongani Zikalala confirmed that he repossessed the player’s vehicle after he failed to pay the outstanding balance. He revealed that Manyisa, after paying the deposit of E47 000 then breached the agreement as he failed to continue with the monthly instalments of E5 000. He revealed that when he got the court summons it showed that the player was owing around E20 000, but was not sure of the exact amount as he was out office to confirm the actual outstanding money. “It’s true that I was the one who repossessed the car from Manyisa last week at Lobamba and I will be auctioning it this coming Friday,” the messenger of the court explained.

Reason

He also said that the reason he did not put a reserve price of the vehicle was due to the fact that it had mechanical challenges, which he noted when he took it from the national team Sihlangu star player. “I noticed that the car had mechanical faults and its value has declined so I decided not to put the reserve price in the notice,” he said. Meanwhile, in an almost similar incident his team Swallows lost its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter after it was repossessed by EswatiniBank in the 2020/21 season. The bus was then bought by sworn rivals Mbabane Highlanders in an auction. Swallows then President Archbishop Bheki Lukhele bought two Sprinters which the club used, but since his official resignation was announced a few weeks ago, the buses are also expected to be part of the property he would leave with.
