ESWATINI, GHANA FOR BRONZE MEDAL MATCH
MBABANE – The Eswatini Teqball team is doing fairly well in the Hammamet, Tunisia, All-Africa Beach Games, as they prepare for bronze against Ghana.
Eswatini in Group D went up against Ghana and Zambia. The Eswatini teqers proved to be worthy opponents as they edged Ghana in the doubles category 2-1, where they played best of three sets. Teqball Eswatini Sports Administrator Nokwazi Dlamini mentioned that all was well since their arrival at the Beach Games. “We made it into the quarter-finals in the singles category but we could not progress any further as Ghana got the better of us,” she said.

Menzi Mnisi had a good run as he was representing the country in the singles category as well as in the men’s doubles. It was unfortunate to learn that the Eswatini team had to forfeit all their mixed doubles games due to bad luck. Siphesihle Dlamini, who is accompanied by Menzi Mnisi and Siphosethu Sikhondze, picked up an injury ahead of their mixed doubles clash.
“We were unfortunate to lose Siphesihle due to an injury she picked up during the games,” mentioned Nokwazi. It is pitiful for Siphesihle, who won the domestic championships in the mixed category last year and we will no longer get the chance to attempt to finish in the same manner at the All-Africa Beach Games. The Eswatini Teqball team will play Ghana for bronze in the doubles category. Mnisi, who had triumphed in both the double categories last year during the Eswatini Challenger Cup, was left undone after losing to Ghana. As of today, he is the best performing player for the country as well as the fifth highest ranked player in Eswatini. However, be as it may, Taribo Bhembe, Teqball Eswatini President currently leads the rankings for Eswatini teqers in 53rd in the singles category.
Mnisi, who is ranked at 171st in the singles category, had to regroup when they went up against Ghana yesterday in contention for the bronze. Eswatini has the chance to finish within the top three countries in the doubles category, which will be a major boost for the players as well as the sporting code in the country as a whole. As it stands, both Ghana and Eswatini are statistically matched after Eswatini beat Ghana in the doubles category, while Ghana overcame Eswatini in the singles category.
