MBABANE – MTN National First Division (NFD)-bound outfit Pigg’s Peak Rangers have ties with Pigg’s Peak Bush Bucks.

The northern zone Hhohho Regional Football Super League (HRFSL) envoys confirmed their ticket to play in the second-tier of local football, after beating southern zone representatives Sidwashini United 4-2 on aggregate. United were 2-0 victors in the first leg of the two-legged HRFSL play-offs, which was played at the under construction fourth Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre at Mkhuzweni near Buhleni a fortnight ago. Rangers became a better side in the second leg which was played at the Mavuso Sports Centre this past Saturday as they run riot over United, to defeat the Trevor Ginindza-coached side 4-0.

The Pigg’s Peak-based side General Manager (GM) Patrick ‘Mpembe’ Dlamini revealed that they were related with the erstwhile NFD side, Bush Bucks, as most of their directors were those of the latter. “For now we are Pigg’s Peak Rangers and the reason we are using colours of Bush Bucks is due to the fact that most of our directors are from them. We were given the colours by one of the Bush Bucks directors. In fact I can briefly say that we are related to them,” Dlamini said. He also did not want to go into details of whether they would trade with the Pigg’s Peak Bush Bucks name in the NFD, citing that they were yet to meet with the team’s elders to discuss, among other issues, the name change.“We are yet to consult with the elders on that matter and if they decide on changing the name, we will then write to the Eswatini Football Association to request that. As I said, for now we are Pigg’s Peak Rangers,” he clarified.
He then disclosed that they were going all out to maintain their status in the NFD for one or two seasons, then on the third they would be challenging for honours. He further said they were yet to decide whether to host their home games at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre or Killarney Sports Ground, but highlighted that Killarney was their home. Meanwhile, Bush Bucks were EswatiniBank Cup quarter-finalists in the 2009/10 season, under the stewardship of now Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows Chairman Charles Matsebula.
