LET’S HAVE FOOTBALL INDABA-PLE

EZULWINI – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) believes there is  a need for football indaba.

Speaking on behalf of the PLE Chairman, Polycarp Dlamini said the football indaba could unravel a lot of football issues. He was speaking during the MTN PLE Awards, which were held at Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini yesterday. “The use of muti and violence in stadiums is a big concern. As PLE are working to address those issues. In fact we feel we need a football indaba to address many issues. We do hope the football indaba would also help in improving national team performance,” said Dlamini. He went on to congratulate the champions of Premier League and National First Division Green Mamba and Rangers respectively. He also highlighted that despite starting late; they managed to finish the league in time.

Meanwhile, Eswatini Football Association President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane said Eswatini football was getting exposure from the FIFA plus+ platform. “The FIFA+ platform, is a digital platform viewed by all the 211 countries under the membership of FIFA and beyond to other populations of the world. This does not only provide the marketing of our football talent globally but also provides a good platform for business development. To you MTN Eswatini, your branding of our football game is now visible universally,” said Simelane.The president said they could not afford to continue trailing behind. “We need to keep pace with the global football developments and the good opportunities presented by these developments, as they unfold. This will be the best remedy to achieve greater performance standards, domestically and internationally; coupled with the assurance of some football commercial activity,” he said.
Meanwhile, MTN celebrated the 22 years of marriage with the Premier League of Eswatini. “We have certainly bonded over many hours deliberating on various issues which have cropped up in our partnership for the ultimate good of football in the country as well return on investment for MTN as the sponsor,” said MTN CEO Wandile Mtshali. He said MTN remained committed to the development of the sport in Eswatini and believed that with active and intentional collaboration, together, they could make football great in Eswatini again.
