LOBAMBA - Lactalis Eswatini and Teqball Eswatini Federation (TEF) have sealed a one-year partnership worth E30 000.

This maiden deal was unveiled yesterday morning at OlympaAfrica in Lobamba during the sponsorship launch. This saw Lactalis, through their brand Cabana, enter into this partnership. Making his remarks, Lactalis Head of Marketing Lucky Phiri said they were proud of this partnership, which was key to Teqball development and growth in the country. “It is a pleasure to be among such football royalty. We would like to encourage emaSwati to jump into the brand. Therefore, we would like to announce a sponsorship to TEF to the tune of E30 000. The sponsorship includes the availability of Cabana drinks in their activities within the kingdom,” Phiri said.

With Teqball being three years old since it was introduced in the country at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said they were keen on seeing it develop and grow. Lactalis also said they were proud of the great strides the sport had taken in terms of its followership and success. Notably, Eswatini is ranked among the top five best performing nations in the continent. As a testament, Eswatini finished fourth in the recent Africa Beach Games played in Tunisia, where about 18 countries competed.

Meanwhile, TEF President Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe expressed the association’s happiness on being a beneficiary. “We are lost for words for this partnership. Teqball is barely three years old and a new sport. Having a company that wants to associate itself with us is very amazing and heartfelt. We are happy that we are adding another partner that will assist us grow the sport beside the ones we already have,” Bhembe said.
He said that Lactalis would refresh them with Cabana juice in every event or activity that they would have.

Besides some Lactalis staff, also present was Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC) Business Development Manager Zama Tsabedze. EOCGA Chief Mthethwa hailed the partnership, saying as a new sport, it needed some support while also adding that teqball was one of the well-established sports in the country.
