FIFA, CAF WILL RULE ON ‘PUPU’, ‘JEKWA’ - ALLY
MBABANE – “It’s not over yet.”
This was the reaction from Mbabane Highlanders South African Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe after his target, Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, lost his case before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Player’s Status Committee (PSC). “We’ll get Pupu, just watch the space. He will appeal the verdict. Otherwise, we’re taking this matter and Jekwa’s to FIFA.
“We’re also getting assistance already from CAF as we have someone advising us there. It’s quite unfortunate that the PSC ruled against ‘Pupu’ and ‘Jekwa’, but we know and understand why. We’ll just let FIFA and CAF decide the cases,” Kgomongwe retorted. Kgomongwe decried that the EFA PSC was not giving them fair treatment, citing conflict of interest with its Chairperson Sipho Matse, who is a former Moneni Pirates official.
“We were ready to use ‘Pupu’ against Swallows, but still, we got enough ammunition. Menzi Sithole is also back with us where he belongs, and we were working on having him registered by Friday close of business,” Kgomongwe said. He was also confident that they would rise above last weekend’s setback against Madlenya in their MTN Premier League 2022/24 opening match.
“We can still hit Swallows hard and then go on to win the ‘Pupu’ transfer wrangle. I’ll show them who’s boss,” Kgomongwe declared. It is worth mentioning that Kgomongwe is the reason that Green Mamba forward Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, a former Swallows player, was still playing soccer today. He rescued his career when no one wanted to associate with him following a verdict by a South African Football Association (SAFA) Tribunal in 2020. ‘Sikhali’ was found guilty of signing for two clubs but played for Mbombela United.
He was found to have defaulted as he had signed for TS Sporting first. Kgomongwe took him in, swore he would get him back in the field of play, and he did. Some local teams protested, but all lost the case he was soon called up to the national team Sihlangu.
