MBABANE - “We’ll do everything in our powers to make the supporters happy tomorrow.”

These were the words of Mbabane Swallows gaffer Caleb Ngwenya during the 2023 MoMo Cup semi-finals media briefing, held at the Sigwaca House yesterday ahead of their tricky match against National First Divison (NFD) outfit Lozitha Spurs. The two sides will lock horns in the second semi-finals penned for the Mavuso Sports Centre today. Umkhonto KaShaka beat sworn rivals Mbabane Highlanders 2-1 en route to this encounter with the NFD rookies, who sent Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows packing in the play-offs with a 2-1 scoreline.

“The match against Lozitha Spurs on Sunday will be a tough one, but we are aware of its importance and have prepared accordingly. All of our players are in good spirits and ready to play, except for Leon Manyisa, who will be missing from the team. Nevertheless, we are confident and determined to do well in the match,” the former Green Mamba head coach said. He highlighted that the players were ready to make the supporters happy after suffering an embarrassing defeat in the hands of Green Mamba last week during Week two of the MTN Premier League.

“My soldiers have shown great positivity coming from the game against Green Mamba and we will do our best to make them happy by doing well in the tournament which consists of very good clubs that should not be taken lightly,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lozitha Spurs Head Coach Thembela Dlamini shared that Swallows was a very big team but will not respect them in the field of play.
“Our preparations have gone very well and we are aware of the threat that they have, especially because they are wounded but we belief that we can cause an upset. We have prepared our players psychologically for the game and we are positive that we will reach the finals of the competition,” the former Moneni Pirates assistant coach said. Meanwhile, Moneni Pirates coach and skipper did not show up.

What others had to say:
Charles Mandla – Nsingizini Assistant Coach
“We are giving it our all to prepare for this match, as we know we will be facing a team that is good with the ball. We are confident that we will secure our first win of the season by defeating Moneni Pirates. We know that it will not be easy, but we are ready to fight.”
Kingsley Kwayki – Mbabane Swallows defender
“We have put a lot of time and effort into preparing for this tournament, and our main goal is to win the cup for our loyal supporters.”
Mxolisi Mkhonta – Lozitha Spurs Captain
“We are aware that facing a strong team like Mbabane Swallows will be a challenge, but we are going to give it our all and try our best to win. We are prepared for a tough match, but we are determined to succeed”
Pius Baffour - Nsingizini Hotspurs Captain
“We are fully motivated for the match and are eager to defend our title as champions of the MoMo Cup tournament. The players are ready to give it their all and bring home the trophy”
