PUNTER HITS E360 000 JACKPOT, BUT ...
MBABANE – A punter has been left confused about his winnings in the widely played MulaSport betting platform after some of his winnings ‘vanished’.
The 23-year-old Celumusa Mabuza from Buhleni in northen Hhohho claimed to have won over E360 000 by betting with E40 on Aviator, which is otherwise known as ‘Indiza’. He said he won the money after trying his luck on the betting platform, whereby he utilised two windows to place two bets, which he staked E10 and E30 respectively. The game features an airplane, the main objective being to cash-out your money before the airplane disappears from the screen. The longer the plane stays in the air; the more it multiplies and leads to more payouts.
Mabuza mentioned that just as he placed his bets, he received a call, which he responded to while the aviator continued to multiply the odds and to his surprise, he had hit the jackpot as both bets had accumulated E180 000 each, meaning he had won E360 000. He said his mood immediately changed as he could not believe that he had won so much money.
Deposited
To confirm this, he quickly made attempts to claim it and indeed, it was deposited into his MulaSport account. “In total, I think I withdrew about E88 000 from the winnings I made until my account was blocked and I couldn’t access it. “That was when I then sought assistance from MulaSport who assisted me. After I had access to my account again, I was shocked to see that my balance was now E0.00,” he said. He said he did not know what happened to the rest of the money as when he engaged MulaSport officials in Manzini, he was shown a betting history. The betting history showed that the rest of the money had been placed on bets. He denied making such transactions and claimed there was something amiss with what happened to his winnings.
MulaSport Communications Officer Phetsile Xulu said she was aware of the punter’s complaint as she also acknowledged that he visited the Manzini office where he was assisted. She said; “Our first point of contact with him was when he initiated a phone call with one of our customer care centre agents and requested a new password as he had forgotten his. A new password was given to him and he was then advised to change it, thereafter, to ensure security.”
History
Xulu said the punther then visited their offices on Monday, October 9, to relay the aforementioned events which they assisted him by showing him his betting history on the platform. “His history depicted that he had engaged in multiple rounds of Aviator and thus exhausted the funds on his account,” she explained. Xulu further mentioned that MulaSport could not be held liable for what users choose to do on their accounts as she said; “We strongly encourage users to ensure that they do not share their account passwords with anyone. This is done to prevent anyone from using their account, especially without their knowledge. We strongly empathised with the punter.”
She stated that the maximum amount punters could win from Aviator from a single bet was E180 000 as she said once it reaches E180 000, it stops ascending and automatically rewards the user. “It cannot reward an amount above or more than E180 000. Therefore, when he placed his bet, the odds ascended and automatically rewarded him the E180 000, whether it continued ascending or not. That is the maximum amount he would get. He had utilised two windows to place a bet, the first one he staked with E30 and the other one E10, both of those bets gave him E180 000 each, which is why his total winnings were E360 000. Users can not be awarded more than E180 000 when playing Aviator on MulaSport,” she said.
