‘CHACKLAS’ JOINS ABC MOTSEPE SIDE
MBABANE – Spreading his wings.
This is the story of former Eswatini international and Kaizer Chiefs legend Abel ‘Chacklas’ Shongwe, who has joined Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Fernie Battalions as their head coach. His new role is to lead the team to the National First Division (NFD). Fernie Battalions are currently in 11th place with 16 points, while Ehlanzeni United are on top with 26 points. Shongwe made an immediate impact in his first game in charge, guiding the team to a 2-0 victory over Gembok Classic just two days after joining the club. With Shongwe’s impressive pedigree and the team’s recent win under his leadership, Fernie Battalions will be hoping to make a strong push for promotion to the NFD in the coming months.
Fernie Battalions, located in Albert Luthuli, are a soccer club that competes in the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League. They have a large following on social media, with supporters located in various areas. The Eswatini international could not be drawn for comment.
