TENNIS JTI COORDINATOR DISMISSED
MBABANE – The Eswatini Tennis Association (ETA) has terminated the services of Thulani Gina, who held the position of Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) Coordinator, with immediate effect.
This is according to a letter obtained by the publication. Gina was dismissed from his role due to alleged failure to ‘fulfil his duties effectively’. “This letter serves to inform you that your role as a JTI Coordinator for Eswatini Tennis has been terminated.
“Your performance since appointment has been very disappointing. You have consistently failed to provide periodic reports to the president as requested on many occasions. “The number of the schools in the programme that have received a visit from the TI coordinator has decreased immensely. A lot of the ground covered in 2022/23 before your appointment has been lost.

“You have failed to host a national JTI festival at the centre as requested. You have failed to provide teacher trainings as requested. “Your appointment has been a disappointment,” reads part of the letter. Meanwhile, when contacted, Gina confirmed that he was dismissed from the ETA and expressed his disappointment with the contents of the dismissal letter, stating that he felt insulted by it.
“I am extremely disappointed by the manner in which the president handled my dismissal. “I received the news of my termination without any prior notice or conversation,” he said. The former JTI coordinator, further stated that he had just returned from a tournament with the children he coached and receiving such a letter when he was expecting more updates about the sport’s future plans was really disheartening.”.

“I feel sorry for the coaches who are on the ground doing their best and I am deeply disappointed, not only for myself but also for the state of the country’s sport and the children who are involved in it,” he added. The JTI coordinator was hired by the Eswatini Tennis Association to serve as the Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) coordinator last year in May.
