MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows supporters are demanding that the team should clear the air on the future of skipper Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze.

The attacking player has been missing from the set-up of the red and white capital city giants from the first stanza of the 2023/24 season. The supporters are concerned, as the Caleb Ngwenya-led side has not given them an update on Tsabedze, yet the second registration window is shutting down later today.

The debate was started by one supporter, who posted that Swallows took Tony away from them, which attracted close to 200 likes and 90 comments on social media as of yesterday afternoon. “Mbabane Swallows have taken Tony Tsabedze away from us; the negligence you have done will never fade,” reads an extract from the post.

Update

The post went on to reveal that until today, no update about Tsabedze had been made by the red and white capital city giants on the whereabouts of the player. “We don’t want him to play, but update us if he has been released, injured or had been given a new role in the club,” the post continued. Ngwenya said the issue of the former national team Sihlangu captain was long addressed by the Governor Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane in one of the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) Sports Show.

He alleged that Zwane announced that Tsabedze was no longer a Swallows player. “The governor addressed the issue of Tony on radio,” Ngwenya said. He was, however, quick to direct this reporter to Zwane for detailed clarity on the former Eswatini international player. Zwane declined to comment on the issue, referring this reporter back to Ngwenya. When contacted later, Ngwenya promised to come back with a detailed response today, as he was locked in a meeting with the governor.

Conquering

Meanwhile, ‘TT’ is one of the long-serving players at Swallows, having been part of the all-conquering squad, which reached both the group stages of the then Orange CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup, under the stewardship of the late Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati. On the other hand, ‘TT’ could not be drawn for comments as his phone rang unanswered by the time this report was compiled.
