MBABANE – Revealed!

Former Manzini Wanderers self-proclaimed number one supporter Sidumo Ngwenya has cleared the air on his switch to Nsingizini Hotspurs. The jolly supporter surprised many after he revealed, this past Sunday, that he had switched his allegiance to ambitious Shiselweni-based side, Nsingizini Hotspurs. Ngwenya was spotted clad in Insingizi Yezulu colours in the MTN Premier League double-header which was played at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. The back-to-back MoMo Cup champions gave Ngwenya a perfect welcome as they beat Manzini Sea Birds 1-0 on his first day as their supporter.

The supporter after making the bold statement that he was now part of the Derrick Shiba-owned side was quizzed on why he switched camps by this publication yesterday. “I was given a lifetime opportunity which I could not resist,” Ngwenya said. He said the Alexio Sigion-coached side gave him a job opportunity, but did not want to go into details about it. “What I can tell you now is that Nsingizini Hotspurs gave me a job and I can’t go into details, as this is personal,” he said. Ngwenya further said he would get time to officially bid the maroon and white hub giants goodbye and to thank them for everything they had done for him. Meanwhile, Ngwenya has been a present figure for all Manzini Wanderers matches for close to three decades. He was not just a supporter of the Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe-led outfit, but an Eswatini football supporter as a whole.

It is worth mentioning that Ngwenya is not the first supporter to change camps, as in South Africa, famous former leading Orlando Pirates supporter, Mama Joy Chauke, shocked soccer fans after she announced her departure from the club. She had been with Pirates for over 30 years when she announced that she had joined Royal AM, owned by Shauwn ‘MamMkhize’ Mkhize. Chauke said the reason she joined Thwihli Thwahla was not financially driven, but it hurt her seeing them not getting an automatic promotion to the premier league.
